Well I was sitting in traffic when I left work one day so I was flicking through the MFD settings just killing time and the oil temp showed "--- C". I kept on watching it then it suddenly came in at 50C. So whether it doesn't register any temp until then I'm not sure.

After an hours drive it should show something so take it back and get it checked.

The dealers have to enable and turn things on when it gets to them during the PDI. I would take it to your nearest VW dealer when you have 5 mins and get them to check why its off.

It maybe just a sensor or wire issue.

If it was me i would be checking fluid levels etc just to make sure nothing else during PDI was missed

Very well covered as ever Snoopy, best of luck with the diagnosis, please let us know the outcome

Mine shows the temp at around 50-60 C, takes 5 minutes or so.

Back to the dealer, they'll sort it.

x1 should be on after about 5 minutes of driving, usually comes on at about 50-60C .
Golfgti build quality is average at best.

Thanks everyone. I will take it back and see what they say. I'll post some pics soon!
Just kissed the kerb with my rear left. Only a little nick on the alloys but still feels horrible. . Didn't take long to lose its innocence...

Here are some pics after a long drive. It was dull and foggy, so you only can really see the "Shadow" in Shadow Blue.

Stick those pics on the Post a Pic thread, that looks very nice indeed. LED DRN's look the nuts.

Should have gone for the S3 after all
