mk2 golf gti fuel pump removal problem please help

HI finaly worked out how to start a new topic lol anyway I have a mk2 golf gti 8v converted to kr 16v the external fuel pump Is leaking for bottom of caring and causing problems I got a full unit off another car but when I tryed to remove the 4 bolts that hold the bracket to the floor of the car the 1st 1 snapped so I just left it and now wanting to know can there bolts that hold It to car floor be replaced as they look like stuck in to floor ? Will be very gratefull for any help as am totally stuck here thanks

No I think they're integral to the shell. My 4 were v rusted as it was a carb model and never had a pump bolted up. The 1st one I touched snapped, so the other 3 I wire brushed as much as poss, then 3 in 1 oiled, and worked the nut back and forth to clean the thread. Just take your time

IS their any other ways like drilling right threw the old bolt in to car and putting a bolt threw it from the inside just wanting to know incase this goes badly wrong lol

iirc the floor here goes under the seat so that would work, but 3 nuts will be just fine. even 2 would be more than enough as long as they're diagonally opposite each other

NO prob least I know theirs a back up if the other 3 snap as not tryed them yet just soaked in wd40 and left hopefully they come off ok lol cheers

use proper penatrating oil, wd40 is for dispersing water ;)

buff the threads with a wire brush, then as above as you undo take it easy, undo a bit then ti8ghten again, more brushing and more oil, repeat till they come off

Yeah preventions better than cure.. Half hour spent taking it easy will be quicker than titting about tryin to re-nut and bolt it later..as rj says 3 bolts is fine, that's all I'm using..

halfords do an own brand penatrating oil, which i use all the time. plus gas sposed to be the nuts :)
