G'day, newbie with a prob!

Hi chaps and chapesses, I'm new to this but I have a prob with my golf gti and could do with some help. Recently it has started to cut out when the revs drop below 1000 rpm rather than bring it back up. I have had new spark plugs, leads, dizzy cap and starter motor fitted but the problem still perssists (it goes well as long as you are driving fast). Could it poss be an engine management prob, I would welcome any help from anyone who has experienced this or is a dab hand at gti's.

of no help at all , but my driver does it all the time aswell, start her up no problems , come 2 first round about or junction , put foot on brake and clutch , and it stalls , the way round this ive found is 2 make sure uve got warm winter jacket and good battery in ure vw, personally i think its a sighn of a good mrk 2 if it likes 2 cut out :laugh:

my top tip of the day however is 2 look at the cold start up regulator , thingy, try unpluging it ! :cool:

No offence guys but Im glad to hear its a common problem. My 16v MK2 doesnt always do it but occasionally, as you said, when approaching a stop likes to cut out. It starts immediatly... Maybe its the cold weather.  :laugh:

To clean the ISV properly, do you clean it with carb cleaner, then once its clear, spray some WD40 onto it?
Also, sorry to be a pain, when reseting the ECU, which end do you unplug the blue water temp sender, or do you take it off at both ends?
