20v turbo in a mk2
« on: 30 August 2003, 14:08 »
hey guys
I want to swap my 1.8 8v k-jet for a 1.8 20v turbo sometime in the future and was wondering if anyone knew of any costs, etc envolved.
I've seen the engines for sale for about ?1500 at shows, but how much is it going to cost ontop to get it in my car?

Any advice is welcome :)

Saw a VR6 Passat for sale last week for ?2000. Was tempted to buy it just for the engine........to put in my cabrio!
I'd think it would be a good idea to try and get a whole donor car as there is loads of other bits you'll need.

When I went to the recent NO RICE meet there was a bloke there who had a Golf convertible with a 20V audi S3 lump in it, he said he had spent about ?6000 on it. He had it fitted by volks-speed.

Getting the engine into the car is the easy bit as the mounts line up ok, the wiring and setting up is going to be the hard part, A lot of them have the anti theft units fitted so you will need to by pass it with a dedicated ECU.

try the Volks-speed site as they seem to be the best around at the moment in making these conversions easy.

Normally for a 20v T engine supplied and fitted you're looking at three grand my friend.
