Hey Guys,

I am deciding whether to go to my local garage and have a service on my golf or take it to my local dealer?

I have got a quote and breakdown from the dealers as per below for £280??....

6th Longlife service.

Including full VW onboard systems check, Oil filter + Oil, Pollen filter, Fuel filter.

Complete vehicle check over: Brakes, suspension, steering, driveshafts, exhaust, under bonnet.

What do you guys think or shall I pay the extra for the ECU upgrades etc??

Help would be appreciated!??

Thank you for looking.

I think its a ridiculous price for what they actually do, personally I had mine serviced last week at main dealer, paid for the basic service where they still change the oil and oil filter and do a full inspection and still stamp your book..  I would save paying on a major service and buy any other filters and do them yourself.

The dealer pricing is ridiculous I had a heated debate with them last week over what they actually do for the money, I wouldn't mind paying big money for a service if they actually serviced the car.  Anybody with eyes and half a brain can do an inspection, no wonder everyone is running diagnostics from home these days, its the way forward rather than being screwed over by the dealers.

Thank you guys! My mate has offered to do the service for me and use the right VW oils etc.

Will be allot better value.

Out of curiosity how do you do diagnostics from home? What tools, kit do you need?
