However, I think that for you, and from what I have read so far from your posts, the standard set-up would be fine.

Snoops: I wonder which head units the B&W and Linn ICE systems use. Their own designs?
Have Boothroyd-Stuart Meridian and Arcam gone into the OEM ICE business?
I've not been following the progress of these companies for sometime now.

They probably take out a line output from units bought in and use their own pre and power amps + electronic X-overs. Though I have always preferred passive X-overs.  Hmmm.

I like the way they pay a great deal of attention to the width and depth of the sound-stage.

Sorry a bit OT .

Arcam were looking at it a few years back but the way mission went they were a bit hesitant.
Alot of those companies consult other companies. Im not 100% on whos using whos at the moment but alot of them use to consult Alpine,JBL(Harmon industries really) and blaupunkt.

Thanks. Had the same thoughts. Yeah, the head unit..... Very important. Garbage in, garbage out!

IMO That depends. Its easily tested. If its giving the same output frequency responce as input and has a low noise floor and low mechanical noise then i would not be that bothered  My human hearing is not as sensitive as measuring equipment

It seems like a RDC510 with DAB and Dynaudio will fit the bill then.

510 because it looks better. DAB, because the car will be a keeper and we'll all need it eventually and Dynaudio because it just has to be done.

Thanks boys.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Good choice the same as mine, a nice touch with the dab is if you lose the reception it will automatically switch to the same channel on f.m.Saying that it’s very rare I lose the dab the only place it seems to happen is in a multi storey car park.

p.s do you find the reception for radio 2 is poor in craven arms,i tend to lose it in my van when in craven arms ?
Golfgti build quality is average at best.

Yes, we are in a bit of a dead spot here. Replacing the aerial mast on my Passat improved it a bit, but my Mk2 struggles to pick it up.
