LPG and NA 20v a4
« on: 20 January 2011, 13:04 »
quite a high possoblity the boreing daily hack is going to have to do a lot more boreing miles.

as lpg is cheep and i can get propane cheeper again i was wonderign just how much of pissy fit the 20v's ecu in my audi's A4 is going to have when i strap the LPG kit i have sat in the shed to it.

the kits an old style vaporiser and defuser based kit, i'm just wondering if the the ecu is going to throw an absolute pissy fit when it trys to time the fueling to try look after the cat,
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

Unless your using a igs system with it's own ecu and your drilling your inlet and fitting injectors in each one i wouldnt even attempt to fit an lpg kit.
Cost of buying the kit seperate off ebay or the like isnt to bad.But you definatley wont be able to run the type with the diffuser in the inlet tract,it will have no way of metering itself and it can run the risk of running lean and blowing your air box off.
It needss a proper kit that takes readings off your lambda and bridges some of the wires coming from your ecu to stop the engine management light coming on.

Best kit for the money is the italian owned Landi Renzo.
Make sure you have a 3 hole tank and not a time bomb 2 hole as these can be dangerous in a crash.

i'm not really worried about it attempting to go lean,   ill just run it a bit rich  it's only the daily hack.   i may  shove a diffuser on it and run it off a bottel to see if the ecu throws a fit

Well its worth a go but it's not ideal tbh dude.
An old trick when we used to fit the kits and they were running a bit lean, was to drill the jets out in the diffuser.Another way was to back off the regulator. But this was only if they were on older carbed models without standalone/piggybacked ecu's and emulators.

If it doesnt work and you struggle to get it going and decide to buy the igs systeM,Gimme a shout as i still have all the ecu/emulator software and can program an old ecu(the lpg one)for you.
Or i can send you the leads and software through the post and give you instructions how to do it as you seem pretty cleud up.
I did this for Anygas service centre for a few years and im LPGA registered so if you need any help just ask.
