Use of engine support beam?
« on: 18 January 2011, 19:43 »
Hiya

Silly question possibly - but how does one go about using said support beam?  I get the obvious bits and it comes with a small amount of chain...  Do you have to buy some shackels or something to join the chain to the engine lift points?  What happens if it doesn't have lift points?  (its for a 1.4 Ford Fusion Duratec btw)

ta muchly,

James

yeah you;'re supposed to put the chain or rope or whatever thru the middle hook and then around the engien support eyes. it should have some somewhere id have thought. old seatbelts make excellent straps :)

worst case loop em under the engine, though if you're doign a clutch or something thiws will make your life more difficult

ok - then it is off to B&Q at lunch for some longer chain (just in case) and some shackles - I assume thats what you'd use to connect the chain to the engine support eyes if fitted?

ta,

James
