2. Whats the best stuff to use ? and were to get it from

The usual adhesive tapes rely on a solid flat surface on the number plate, and a solid, flat surface on the car (i.e. a body panel/painted bumper)

The number plate surround isn't completely solid, so you may have trouble once water gets at the adhesive. It will hold for a bit, but will give way eventually.

Personally I'd just man up and drill the holes for the surround. If you get them wrong it's no big disaster as the number plate will cover it up.

Go to Halfords and go up to the parts desk. Ask them for the number plate sticky pads. They have some really good pads behind the counter, they are a bit expensive but really good. Ignore all the crap on the shelves Mate. I used these pads on my German style plates and they have been on for months now.

Why do you want to stick them on when them plate holders surround the plate and keep it in situ.

And this is why I should read the question before posting :afro:

Word of advice dont go for the double sided tin stuff Halfords sell. It's sh!t, mine fell off in the summer and it was pritty stuck on.

How about a big tab of velcro?

The double sided tape stuff on the shelf at Halfords is sh!te but if you ask at the parts desk they have some foam style number plate pads which are very good. About £2.99 a pack iirc and hold very well
