Has anybody ever noticed?

Mine has the line on both sides???

Yes you will have the line on both sides but look closer and you will see that the line on one side fades away when the other is solid all the way across. As far as i know this is the case on all mk2's, well it is on all the ones i have looked at or owned.

I'll have mine smoothed away anyway when it returns to the bodyshop later this year

   Ooooooo dangerous you might take away the strength of the rear pannel and the whole car will fall apart.

I'll have a rear strut brace to help that.
