« on: 14 January 2011, 15:54 »
hi iv found a company called black forest industries that sell a inlet manifold for ida webers for the 8v an 16v !!
how easy/hard would this conversion be ??
i persume it would clear up the engine bay a bit i.e wires n air box ??
has anybody else done this before to a mk3 n maybe point me in the right direction

cheers del

Fitting carbs is a backward step plus on a non crossflow 8v do not work that well due to being above the exhaust.

Yup, induction noise is the only benefit though.

It is really the only benefit, injection systems have come on a long way these days, carbs need a lot of tweaking to stay in tune.

IDA or downdraft webbers are a lot better on a counterflow 8v than sidedrafts, but a crossflow head with sidedrafts works better again

only problem is the MOT you arnt going to get a mk3 past the emissions test with big webbers ( or littel ones )

ITBS   are the only way your going to have no mot bother and the noise
all the VW's have gone bar 1.
