DSG is the single best feature of the car for me. A fantastic piece of engineering. Love it

I cannot and will not love something I don't know well enough.
Love can be a very exhausting emotion, and I don't feel DSG deserves this.

I have not loved just one thing in my long life which is the continuous one of getting old.
But what I love about this is the experience I have gained through all my trials and tribulations.

Here endith the sermon.

Amen.

Hate is bad, all consuming and very much against my own religion.

But.......

Love and hate go together so well

Were talking about a gearbox in a car not a living being

It's for fun although it doesn't seem like it now

I really cannot comment one way or the other, I have always driven manual cars so am used to having a little stick to twiddle with, I've only driven automatics when on holiday in Canada (where I am now  :smug:) and these are not DSG.

So I just went for a manual again because it is what I know and like, my worry was that if I bought a DSG car and didn't take to it or even like it then I was stuck up the creek without the proverbial paddle.

I don't therefore hate DSG cars I just love my manual to me it is like my cosy old armchair - solid and dependable, a bit like me too really.

Test drove a Mk5 GTi with DSG shortly before buying my manual Mk6. Yes, it was all very clever but it certainly didn't scream "buy me", especially at £1500 or whatever it costs. I've never owned an automatic in my life so I don't feel I am missing anything by not having it - I'd rather spend the money on an RNS or whatever.
As always, it's each to their own.

DSG - De-Skilled Gearshifts. One less thing for drivers to be good at.
