You can bat on about torque till your blue in the face but all proper sports cars and hot hatches are petrol. Diesel equivalents are just not as good.

Simple as that.

Agreed but diesel motors have come a long way in the last few years... not like the old sluggish dogs they used to be and with common rail injection and balancing shafts they are so much quieter too.

Yes all proper sports cars are petrol and f**king expensive to run. I'm talking real sports cars here, ferraris, lambo etc not gtis.

However to say that diesel should be forgotten about is foolish. There is a reason le mans winners are all diesel now.

Please note I never said there was anything wrong with diesels.

Some of them are great cars. What Im trying to get across is that petrol is simply better in terms of motoring.

No i love them especially ones like a 535 bmw.. or a big litre audi..  my mates dads Q5 3.0 TDI goes like sh!t off a shovel..

I've owned 2 GTIs, 2 TDIs and a VR6.

Petrol bought me to the forum, diesel is my daily.

Just because someone doesn't own a GTI at the moment doesn't mean they don't know about them.
