Vagcom tweaks
« on: 09 January 2011, 22:44 »
Has anyone that has done any tweaks with Vagcom had any problems afterward? The reason i ask is i would like to get a couple things changed, mainly dial staging, deactivate auto rear wiper and auto window closure when it rains. I know a few on here have done some bits and bobs but does it ever bugger anything up?

I'm not far from birmingham mate but i should be having a run up to Darren's on saturday to get bluetooth fitted all being well, so was going to ask him to do it for a few beer tokens, tbh it's my missus that has put doubt in my mind about problems if the car has to go in for anything. :undecided:
Have you done the staging thing cos that and the rear wiper is what i'd like doing most?

Not the staging as it's not for me but yes I've done the wiper and done a "how to" on it, Darren knows what he's doing so you'll have no problems there.

Yeah, that rear wiper is a good one I reckon. It really pee's me off when I'm reversing and the wiper decided to scrape accross a dry bit dirty screen leaving a right mess

Must look into getting that one done myself.

Well I've only just bought myself VCDS for Christmas so I haven't done much with it at the moment apart from a couple of autoscans that bring up a couple of faults and I've extended the heated rear window/mirror timer from 10 to 14 minutes.

There are tweaks on other forums I noticed one the other day VCDS MKVI / MK6 Platform, Handy Coding tweaks setup by Dana from Ross-Tech. I know its a TDI forum but a lot of tweaks are common to all models.

To be honest I find the help crap on VDCS as there isn't any apart from the basic setup pdf. I'm trying to get the TDI forum I use the most to have a VCDS/VAG-COM section

What kind of faults Keith? From something you've had done or just issues with the car itself?

No I've done nothing to it only the heated rear window timer last weekend.

I did an autoscan after Christmas and it showed

03-ABS Brakes -- Status: Malfunction 0010

1 Fault Found:
02214 - Tire Pressure Warning
002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermittent
Fault Frequency: 1
Mileage: 8041 km
Date: 2010.14.04

I don't know why it shows the current mileage and last years date when it wasn't at the dealers or is that when the fault first got logged?

09-Cent. Elect. -- Status: Malfunction 0010

1 Fault Found:
00897 - Windshield Washer Pump (V5)
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit - Intermittent

The washers have always worked perfectly. I decided to clear all faults and autoscan it again last weekend. After clearing it still shows

03-ABS Brakes -- Status: Malfunction 0010     [both in red]
09-Cent. Elect. -- Status: Malfunction 0010

But No fault code found. on all systems.

The date tends to be wrong a lot of the time Keith, I can't say why, I'd suggest asking on that forum but you know where that ends up

I know that you'll know thus but if you look in Mk6 Maintenance there's a stcky on VCDS tweaks - would you like your own vcds section in there or maybe in the MK6 TDI section?

It would be quite good for you to do a blog as you go along explaining what you've done, where you've found help and what your struggling with, if you have the time of course :-)

Typing on my IPhone so please forgive the spelling.
