From SE London
« on: 06 January 2011, 17:55 »
Hi, I've been a long time member and never really introduced myself but Im sure alot of you who are also on the Uk-MKIV forum also know me
But to those of you who don't Im 21 and a student studying chemistry at Reading although Im originally from the south-east of london, I'm the third owner of my silver 5-door mk4 and had it since last year. Picked it up in quite a state from a lady owner. Since last year I swapped the engine for a 1.8t (AUM) and done some mods on it.

Body work had quite a bit of scratches and took some detailing sessions to sort out, still have a few panels that I'm not happy about and need detailed in the spring but on the whole it's not bad now a few trims were replaced. Wing mirrors were both cracked when I got the car so I replaced them both but as I never could be bothered to paint them thats how I've left them, they seem to work alright a sort of black theme going with the rubstrips and wheels. I've tried to keep the appearance of a 1.6 - bit of a sleeper, only other thing I have changed on the exterior are the black RS4 reps. and the stubby sharan aerial.

I gave the engine a clean bit of health before I put it in and serviced it after, changed the timing belt, water pump, new coilpacks, new MAF, new coolant temperature sensor, new thermostat, NGK platinum spark plugs, lambda sensor, MAP sensor, intake air temperature sensor, semi-lunar valve gasket, cam chain tensioner gasket, valve cover gasket, oil filter, fuel filter, cabin filter, Fusch double ester synthetic engine oil, gearbox oil, brake fluid, coolant, power steering fluid all changed and done a quick compression test as well, read 12.6-12.8 bars across all cylinders.

Engine has had the usual bolt-ons:
demon motorsport turbo intake hose
cold side diverter relocation
cold air intake system
forge split-r blow off valve
oil catch can
3" downpipe
decat
2.5" catback exhaust
Eurojet racing front mount intercooler
4 bar fuel pressure regulator
AMD stage 2 remap
charcoal canister, secondary air pump, n112 and n249 delete
Powerflex lower engine mount bush
Front and rear upper strut braces

Brakes are NEX 4 pot calipers on 330mm two-piece floating calipers with braided brake lines and ATE blue brake fluid, I eventually plan to upgrade the rears to 280mm with uprated pads to even out the brake balance slightly.

picture of the 3" downpipe and decat mated to a 2.5" powerflow catback exhaust with discrete 2.5" tail pipe

Clocks are immo3 Bora sport clocks (petrol variant) with miles till empty, lit needles, autowindows activated, alarm beeps on lock/unlock and auto unlock/lock also activated.
Other interior mods include audi TT pedals and illuminated bora sport edition air vents

All interior lights are LED's including the rear units with the ultrasonic sensors (LED's soldered onto the PCB) and picture also shows a Gentex auto-dimming rear-view mirror

Also changed the headlights for depo r32 rep. the projector gives a good beam pattern for night time commutes, made it alot easier on the eyes too.

Still got a long list of mods to do yet before it's complete but will keep on updating when I get something new done, going to order my 14lb single mass flywheel and stage 2 clutch at the end of this month so there's another thing to look forward to!
Thanks for reading and hope to see you around!
