This is what you need and in my opinion, the best option...

I don't think you can get an iPhone cradle for this kit. I've got the same instalation which was a factory option and rather than it sit there looking ugly and doing nothing, I also got one of these.

Works a treat and at that price, you can't go wrong...

The above one is the one I have fitted to my R32.  Its brilliant.  Works perfectly with my iPhone and is so good I can leave my iPhone charging in the arm rest and do everything via voice commands.  Its brilliant.  I think the brand is Bury and its the VW version of the CC9060.

I am going to upgrade the headunit at some point but will definitely be keeping this unit.

The other great thing, is if you have it wired up properly it is also an A2DP unit so you can connect your phone and play music through it.  However, mine is not wired to do this (it doesn't switch the stereo off for some reason) but will be when I have the headunit done.

The one in the pic is indeed the VW factory option and the only way to properly remove it is to replace the glovebox.

Fortunately its relatively easy to do and when I looked into the cost of a new glovebox it was surprisingly cheap - don't remember exactly but around the £30 mark.

That's correct, mine does mute the stereo as soon as it rings and is full functional with my iPhone. It is the VW version of the Bury unit but unfortunately the Bury has slightly different mounting guides, otherwise it would be a cheaper option.

This is what I did with mine and installed the Skoda Bluetooth kit instead.

Hey Rabbit, any chance of a pic? I'd be interested to see how it looks in the car!

Cheers
