dave having very same problem on my daughters car going to try the solder thing tomorrow think the door barrel could be ****ed as key turns 360 where do you get a lock repair kit? and why do people have kids.

My lock problems turned out to be a mixture of the solenoids and broken lock. I would check the lock to see if it is all together first as it only takes 5 minutes to take out, taking the solenoid out is a royal PITA especially if both driver and passenger sides need doing like mine did!
If the key is turning 360 degrees I would say the lock mechanism has broken, if you go on eBay and type MK4 Golf lock repair kit they will pop up, only £8 with delivery and worked a dream on my lock.
