« on: 03 January 2011, 18:58 »
Right need to change my car to 5 stud setup this means changing it to rear disks? Or is their a way round it? If not what do I need? And will they fit with tdi driveshafts?

a friend of mine did this.

he used from a gti (95) with 280 mm discs.

wishbones,hubs,antiroll bar for the front.
changed the rear beam over.

not a very nice job.

why not just get a mk2 gti set up.
discs on the rear and stays 4x100 that way you wont need to change the front.
or early corrados

Also 4x100 gives you a much better choice of wheels than 5x100

I believe the front hubs bolt straight on to tdi drive shafts and you can also use the tub axle set up (inc brakes) from a 5 stud car (I don't think vw made a 5 stud drum set up?) so you'll need to fit discs

if you really want 5 stud then contact rubjonny on here (he's the wizz with what fits and will know exactly what you need)

at the back you need to do a disc conversion, there are no drums that I know of which are 5x100 that swap on. you may be able to get some redrilled, but that would be a bit of a pain

5 stud front hubs wont fit 4 stud shafts, need to change the outer c/vs to 5 stud ones at the very least or just change entire shafts if thats easier for you.  a couple options for 5 stud:

1. press 5 stud hubs into 4 stud bearing carriers, allows you to leave all the rest of the running gear alone, just swap outer cvs. problem here is either need to redrill 4stud discs, or fit 280mm setup and buy early passat b3 vr6 discs:
357 615 301 A - 280 brake disc, 5x100 - 38.83+VAT

2. fit 5stud bearing carriers complete with mk3 gti wishbones and roll bar

3. fit 5stud bearing carriers but use later passat 5 stud wishbones which allow you to keep your old roll bar
