Help!! mk3 golf gti suddenly won't start?

  I have a mk3 95 colour concept, it has been running lumpy for a while hesitant on 3000rpm and occasionaly firing on 3 cylinders? but i went out this morning and it won't start, the ignition seems fine because the engine turns over but not firing up. The petrol pump is not starting but no. 167 and no. 30 relay  has been replaced. the fuel pump has been tested and is working fine, getting vagcom on it tomorrow and hoping this will help me, I am at wits end with this and i don't know what to do next?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. :angry: :angry: :angry:

Have you checked there is a spark at the plug. You could check the disi cap and rotor arm are okay. there is a sticky in the mk3 section with some great starting problems explained. Good luck.

Yes new dizzy,leads, rotar arm and plugs, the plugs have all got good sparks.

      I've noticed that the oil light flashes when i turn on the ignition, do you think that this has anything to do with it? :undecided:

Sounds like a dodgy coil pack to me which is a common fault on the Mark 3's. Easy to find and fit.  :cool:

   I tried to start her this morning on the of chance and it sounded as if she wanted to start up but only on 2 cylinders, very strange because yesterday she was just turning over?
  Does anyone know where to plug the vagcom in because my mate is coming around later and i can bet that he does'nt know were the plug is? :undecided: :undecided:

The port is to the left of the ashtray. Remove the ashtray and there is a small panel that slides over to reveal the port.

  If you can get sparks from all your plugs could the coil still be at fault?
  I have just read on hear that if your oil level is to low the engine won't start as a saftey issue?
  Does anyone know how true this is? :undecided:

I have never heard of this to be honest but that does not mean it isn't true. Maybe someone will confirm either way soon.
