Swapping final drive's
« on: 02 January 2011, 11:30 »
I've got a few 02A boxes now and one of them is a TDi box. I want to stick in the final drive from my G60 box into the TDi box to shorten it a little.

Just wondered how much of a task it is swapping the final drive's over?

Thanks :)

I guess also, what's its like rebuilding a box (refurbing it) and swapping a few gear ratios around?

I have a CDA, CES, ASD, and 1 more. Will confirm codes later, but want to make the best box possible for me using these boxes?

:)

Just found out the final drive from the ASD is 3.944, so its shorter than the others! Might just rebuild the ASD and stick it straight in with my Mk4 shifter setup.

Lots of work to swap a final drive, pullers etc needed.

I see, might ask around and see if anyone knows of decent gearbox rebuilders and prices, etc. Sounds like something that can go very wrong if you don't know what your doing! (or the right tools!)

Not even sure its worth it tbh :undecided:
