Finished lowering the old gal!
« on: 01 January 2011, 13:06 »
Well, it took me about 8 hours and cost me several ratchets and sockets but I finally got the new shocks and springs on. It looks a little high at the front but Im a family man now and the overall look is good enough for me. Theyre G max (35 - 40mm) shocks and springs which after buying I read loads of horror stories about but after a bit of a test drive it feels damn good to me. Infact, I had read that they had a horribly stiff ride but IMO the ride is a little soft if anything. The car needs a clean but heres a quick pic.

Before

After

Ive definitely got the bug for doing stuff to it now, thinking of a steering wheel next.

Can deffo see the difference mate looks spot on miness not silly low tbh not even sure how low mine is but the chap got the height just right for daily driving. What I would say though is get the camber done pretty quickly they should do he tracking when they camber it and have a look at your track rod ends as 9 times out of 10 they seize solid I just bought some new ones as there cheap and the chap fitted them and re-cambered the car.If you dont get it done your tyres will last about a week

Looks loads better Mate and a job well done. My next move would be a deep chin front splitter (not calling it a VR splitter after the big debate last year ). This would compliment the lowering and give it a better look and is a nice cheap easy mod for you.  Think you'll agree though well worth all your effort. All you need now is an extra couple of doors for the little un

Make sure you get a deep chin spoiler off Eurowagens ... my £20 replica from their has taken one hell of a beating and its flawless. The stuff bends, and is a SOLID fit.
