Memories are priceless and aspirations essential. Without these you might as well be dead.
Agreed for once
I didn't "aspire" to a golf I just needed a car that was good on fuel, automatic and safe for day to day running around
I don't aspire wrt to cars but wrt to my profession. I think this makes us slightly different for the present:tongue:
wrt  ? :undecided:

Grammar and post corrected for you kind sir.

I have never wanted a supercars, Been in quite a few and to me there pointless.
The odd thing is you could say i did aspire to a golf. On my bedroom wall as a young lad were two cars. One a VW one an Audi. A BRM 2.0 16V converted mk1 GTI in silver. In ~1989 i bought a mk1 GTI in silver and still own it. The other car i ever really wanted after seeing one at the motorshow and in later life driving a few of them was an Audi ur-quattro, a car i will add to the current collection one day. I have owned most cars i have ever thought i wanted, the perks of a family who were in the motortrade in the 90s but very few have ever stayed in the collection as i changed my mind on them.

The Mk6 is a  £25K and up car, they are essentially a £15K mass-produced car with some fancy trimmings and a souped up engine.

Which fool told you that Steve

The Mk6 GTI/GTD/R IS A FANCY CAR as many people 'fancy' or more accurately 'covet' it.

Yes of all the cars I could have, a mk6 is the one I really 'covet'.

Oh yes , very fancy car, guess thats why everyone wants one.

What is a 'real' car then ?

I think any car that just does it's job.

IMHO to cornerstone of the VW range is the bluemotion golf - it just does what it says on the bootlid :-)

Ah, main roads finally clear of snow this morning.  Was able to open up the GTi on the A702 in a way I'd almost forgotten about.  I see an overtaking opportunity, I'm past.  It's that simple.  Just driving to work, but a lot of fun.

That's why I like this car.

I 'fancied' the GTI because I loved its classless image, its undoubted cache, its simple lines, its compact external dimensions, its spacious interior, its good sized boot, its high quality interior, its turn of speed, its good fuel economy, its reasonable purchase cost (IMO), the close proximity of the service department/dealership, need I say more.

I also sometimes drive a Mercedes C350 CDI Sport Auto. But I far prefer my GTI in every way.
