In my eyes a golf MK6 is a safe car that looks good and is built well versus it's rivals.

The price reflects the quality and strength of the car although they aint that expensive IMHO

just not painted that well

This is the reason I bought my Golf when it was 3 years old, some other mug has loaded all the extras on and I get it at a lot more reasonable price , would never pay what they wanted new for one, unless it was company car.
How do you know the so called mug is just making lots of money and doesn't really care how much he loses ? If the original owner has the same attitude as you maybe then he would then see you as a mug as not being able to afford a brand new one.

P.s this is not my view.

And if its anything like the mk5 more than halfway to rusting though the wings by then

Depreciation
I don't look on that as an issue as i personally keep cars a very along time. I have had the mk1 since 1989 for example. It is also why i spent so much time on prepping the mk6 for its long stay with me.

Not sure what you meen.  :undecided:
I bought it as unlike alot of modern cars it had decent visability, had nice steering weight (a must for me), decent low down power and i liked the looks. It was also a change from my previous TDI daily driver...
Im not a speed freak like most on here.
Its still just a golf.

I read they're bringing out the MK7 within the next 2 years.

Depreciation, thats a bummer!

Depreciation...the word most used by those who can't afford to buy new and suffer it (generally...not specifically at the OP)
Personally, I couldn't give a toss...that's why I get off my arse and earn it in the first place.
If it wasn't getting spent on a car, i'd waste it on something else.

So says the man who lost £55k on his last car.
Would I do it again?
Hell yeah...

A golf GTI is still a Golf...still a shopping car at heart.
An M3 is still a 3 series.
Nothing to get wound up about...they are what they are....and it doesn't make them any worse for it.

Glen, out of interest, what was your last car?

Glen, out of interest, what was your last car?

Technically it was a Fabia vRS that lost next to nothing over 3 years....but that was just a runabout.
The last 'good' car was a factory order Porsche 996 C4S with many options. (Speed Yellow, Aerokit, Lowered Chassis, GT3 wheels, Sports Exhaust, blah, blah..)
That bad boy cost me about £5 per mile over 5 years, all things considered.

But the memories are priceless...and I'd do it again.
