jetta water pressure

good day,

i have done the mod for the mk3 parts and now my jettas building up too much pressure in the water system. i spent a fair bit bleeding te system and it was fine for a few days. but now, theres so much pressure water doesnt seem to be circulating round as my heater got warm very briefy and went cold.

am i right in thinking water pump is faulty?

from cold take the cap off the expansion tank, then start the car up and rev it a little bit and you should see water splashing round when you look into the top of the tank. If you cant see any movement then its time for a new pump plus backwashing the system to make sure there is no sh!te lodged anywhere

yeah i have done. always seemed to be fine, but i beleive i have come across the problem.

the pressure was coming very quickly very hot. took a sniff of the water and i could smell exhaust gas. (engine was running while i tried to bleed the system) is there anyway i can test my predictions?

i think it may have been caused from the cold tempratures (there was no anti freeze) and i think i may have cracked one of the cyls. possibility i think is a high.

anyone got any pointers??

compression test should point out hg fail, alternatively remove all the spark plugs and shine a torch into all 4 cylinders.  usually if you have a water leak into one of the cylinder you'll see that piston is all lovely and clean. also sometimes if left overnight you'll have a puddle of water sat on top of the piston
