MFD Display question
« on: 14 December 2010, 21:40 »
I'm sure this must have been covered, but couldn't pin down answer through search. My new GTD shows current speed in km/h towards bottom of screen. Probably quite useful but how do I change to mph ?

I dont think you can, its because the clocks only have mph on them.  You might be able to use vagcom to do something about it.  It doesnt really annoy me enough as I look at the speedo anyway.

As Aj said, I don't think you can change this. The main speedo is in mph and this is an alternative if you were to drive around Europe !

Yeah just done another search and of course took me about 3 mins to find answer - which is of course that you can't without Vagcom. I'm sure I'll get used to it and may of course come in handy if ever abroad.

Pretty sure it's been mentioned on here that it is/will be the law that newer cars display km for driving abroad.

Like others have said you can change it by using VAG.COM

This also gives you a check button to put it back to KPH if you do go abroad.

You can't legally change it as its been a European mandate for many many years that speedos should be dual marked. But because the speedo is electronic in the UK the scale is set for mph they have to show km/h seperately in Europe it will be the other way around. The fact that you say I never drive abroad doesn't make a scrap of difference.

This point has been talked about many times on VW forums.
