Dom's problem thread!

As some of you may have seen in another thread my dad has just bought a very low mileage mk2, theres a couple of things that he's asked me to sort on it though.

Firstly headlights are sh!te so i'm making an uprated wiring loom for them.

Secondly the rear screen heater works but takes about half an hour to just demist the window, is there any way of improving this?

Finally, it looks to me as if it is missing some trim from the doors, can anyone confirm this?

Here's a pic of the car, you can just about make out a little bit of trim infront of the rear wheel arch:



If you compare this to one of Chuff's old ones, the trim should continue along the doors?

I'm new to MK2's so please be patient with me!

Should the (pathetic) wheels have some kind of centre caps?

Got a couple more as well, firstly the factory fitted radio doesn't have an ISO connector on, instead it looks like this:



Does anyone know of a wiring harness that would allow this to be converted to ISO easily?

Secondly, having a poke around the engine bay I came across this:



Which looks to me like a homemade pipe, what is it for and should it look like that?

Radio lead - cant help ya

Centre caps - maybe, but the black ones look fine

Pipe - its a feed to provide hot air up into the air filter box - it is just old - new BLACK ones can be had in meter lengths from GSF and the like

rear screen - fit a new one

headlight loom - search function

side trim, sure the base models came without, looks fine

I've already found the info for the headlights, ordering parts as we speak 

Does anyone know if autoglass will replace rear screens like they do front ones? If so a stone might have to find its way through it 

I'll get some more piping sorted and leave the other things for the moment then

why do you want to piss around with the wiring on the factory stereo?

Those are the centre caps on the wheels.. a little black thing over the hub cap and some black plastic caps over the wheel bolts

The bit of pipe sucking hot air from the exhaust into the air box helps stop the carb icing over when you're flat out

Because the radio doesn't work and i'm wacking a cd player in there instead, the only problem is the wiring in the car matches up with the factory radio whereas CD players have an ISO plug on the back. Therefore unless I chop the wires in the car and wire an ISO plug onto the end of them i'm going to need some kind of adaptor harness, and i'm not even sure that they exist
