How important is the centre bore 56.6mm vs 57.1
« on: 27 November 2010, 11:28 »
I'm going to have to put winter wheels on the Mini Golf, as the big wheels will be rubbish in snow. Considering I've got a few spare sets of alloys from the Golf, I was wondering if I could get away with using some of them?

Golf 4x100 57.1
Mini 4x100 56.6

Does that 0.5mm make a big difference, last thing I want is dangerously fitted wheels. But if its okay, then I'll get some winter tyres on my 14" P slots ... and throw them on the Mini!

Yes it makes a difference as the wheel is then only located with the bolts which can lead to vibration prolems.

cheep plastic spiggot ring fixes it.

once wheel is bolted up tight it takes a LOT to make it move ( like a wheel bending type inpact )
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

Doesn't look like a 0.5mm spigot ring exists! http://spigot-rings.com/shop/features.asp

A good machine shop should be able to make some, is the Mini on bolts or studs.

Not sure yet, I'm going to be taking a wheel off today to try and find out what make/model they are.

ummm 0.5mm

i bet a lot of wheels arn't round to within 0.5mm TBH well after theyve hit a good pothole or two anyway.

a pikey may suggest spinning a few turn of tape onto the hub to assist in locating the wheel.
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

A couple of layers of paint would probably make up the difference tbh.
