I hate offers like this... rather, my wallet hates offers like this! I've been considering an R-Tech remap for a while but i simply cant justify the outlay until next year! whats the standard price of the remap?

Great offer!

I know the feeling Musicman.  I can afford to get the map done but the insurance jump of £550 after i've done it is the killer....

If i could get the insurance at a reasonable level I'd be changing all sorts .  Sadly it's going to have to stay standard until the insurance companies stop nobbling the area I live in!

I hadn't even thought about the insurance! I'd have no chance, being only 23, the insurance is high enough as it is!

Haha :D I'm 33, 8 years no claims (or is it 9 i forget).  Married with kids parking the car on the street.  It shouldn't be that bad but my postcode seems to hike it somewhat.  Current insurance (Swift cover) don't support modded cars and when i got a quote from Greenlight, Adrian Flux and some other i can't remember, it was over £1k.

Shame cause it would have been awesome to have a nice remap on there :-(.  I'm looking to move house to make it cheaper :D

Jeepers, I dont feel that hard done too after all! A few years back i took my Advanced driving test and became a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists, for the sole purpose of getting cheaper insurance. I have 4 years no claims, park the car in a garage every night and live in a reasonable area (still with my parents  ), and my insurance is £650!

Worth looking into doing it really - if you go with their insurance company (Adelaide Insurance) you get free protected no claims, free European Breakdown cover and low excess (£150) - I've been with them for a good few years and their brilliant!

To be honest,im not sure if they cover modded cars or not, i haven't had a modded car since i've been with them. Definitely worth a try though, they insure my Mum on her Audi A2 for £224 per year!

  • ...and the modification has begun.
Can I ask the obvious - what would that push me too? Sorry, I know nothing about the VAG engines?

You mean just a remap? On a nice healthy engine expect around the 240bhp mark

Here is my graph with an R-Tech remap
