if u have the money go for michelin alpins , goodyear ultra grips , dunlop winter ice 3d or continental winter tyres they all seem much of a muchness , cheaper tyres avon ice sts or maragoonis but not sure how well they work in snow but seem to be ok in general winter season weather ,  the availability of winter tyres may be more of an issue in uk so your choices might be limited

so can't really justify the costs.

There is not really any cost to having a set of winter tyres. You can only wear one set of tyres out at a time
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

i agree with dubber36 i will prob spend alot more money on a set of summer tyres to go on to my bbs next spring than it did to kit me out with winter rims and tyres and i hope to get good few winters out of them , if they keep me mobile and safer in the snow and ice i think it should be money well spent

Usually saves you money in the long run. Winter tyres are cheaper than the high performance summer tyres and you'll not be spinning away all that expensive rubber in winter with less grip and more spin.

Winter tyres have better grip, better braking - so safer too.

It is one of those win/win situations that people don't generally think about, but when you do - it's a no brainer

So what are the disadvantages and/or dangers of running winter tyres in the summer time...?

Thank you,
Billy

Greater wear on the winter tyre and longer braking distances than a summer tyre would give

well today was the day to test the winter tyres , ice and snow , still some spinning up but alot less than f1s just have to go easy on the pedal , much better grip , breaking alot better to , corners well  ,     only issues was tended to throw snow and slush in below the mudguards , and salt spray up the sides of the car ,  it must be the rougher tread pattern , well pleased,

maragonis just got there hardest test to date , up a back road in the back of beyond on a very steep hill covered in snow and ice and i mean real ice the slippery kind , in minus 6 , thick fog , and some light snow , it was really hairy , car spinning and sliding all over the place ,  but i think if i had been driving with summer tyres i would have been in real trouble , the maragonis got me to my destination and back  there were a few hairy moments , but if i had the f1,s on i am sure i would have been in the ditch ,

what are other peoples experiences , any feedback on the sunny tyres
