« on: 07 February 2005, 11:09 »
Hi
Does anyone know how to change the passenger headlight bulbs on a mk4!! the bloody battery is in the way, and i cant understand why you would have to take the batt out when you need to change a bulb.
The bloke from halfords wouldnt do itfor me, said it has to go to the dealer for that!!

For a bloody bulb change!!!

What the F**k?

Anyone any ideas??

Thanx?

Dude, it can be done with everything in situ, but its just bloody hard. If possible, draft in a child or a friend with childlike hands!!

Believe it or not, whipping the headlight out is the quickest and easiest way - I got it down to a fine art in the end!!! You can have the bumper off in under 5 mins, headlight out, change bulb and all back together in under 30 mins.

Unfortunately, its the way that a lot of manufacturers are going - my Subaru is exactly the same, I need to take the headlights out to change any of the bulbs.

You dont need to take the battery out/bumper off, just unscrew the little plastic bit that's above the light, that should give you enough room, but it is very fiddly. Takes less than 3 minutes as long as you know how to clip the retaining spring back in (look at the other headlight to figure it out)
