MK3 is more Old Skool compared to a 4 but not by much...

So you fancy something proper old skool as a toy eh?  How long until you think you can turn that into reality?  Good plan if you keep the mk3 as a good looking/running daily.

see you are missing the point, its best of both worlds.. not much older but they blend the two looks superbly
That said, mine is  1993 car so its just about same age as the last mk2's...

also mk2 might be slightly lighter, but is about as aerodynamic as a brick, the mk3 is much better for high speed...

F17bad i hear what your saying about the mk3 transplant,i just want something that looks older.
Maybe a mk1 jetta with an s3 lump

The mk3 is my first dub,yes i know i will regret selling it,and probably buy another mk3.
I just think there are nicer looking vw's i.e oldskool
Ive got the bug for more dub

Brad, I'm not missing the point but I understand what you're saying.. Blend between the 2?... a little, but in reality the MK3 was a major redevelopment style wise and looks a sh*t load more similar to a mk4 than it does a mk2, like you say, the mk2 had the aerodynamics of a brick as does the mk1..  The fact that yours is a 93 doesn't make any difference to it's similarities to a mk2.  Nothing designed in the 90's looks Old Skool to me i'm afraid.

missed the boat (you see what i did their ha) again. the mk3 has a similar look to the mk4 is what i was saying but does have similar traits to the mk2 too with the arch extensions etc...

its the perfect base for 250 + bhp... better base than mk2 or older IMO..

the 93 part does make a HUGE difference, if you strip back a late mk3 and a early one like mine it will all become clear.. I'm talking engines and things like wiring looms, pedal box, rust sealer etc... early mk3 is like mk2, late mk3 is a different ball game...

Ah now with that extra detail I see exactly what your saying, however, the man who own's this thread seems more interested in the looks of old skool over than what's similar inside.

Your point about better bases for engines is valid to a degree as like you say it was right in the middle of 2 key MKs, 2 and 4. Massive technology developments and changes in the 90s.  Older cars can however appreciate modern engines quite happily even if it is a bit more work and IMO would be much more rewarding in the long term.

hear you.. its just the dynamics of the older stuff is not as great.. this is the point I'm trying to make..

Anything is rewarding if you have made it yourself, does not matter what base you use..

we are on with a mk2 starting this week, can't wait to see how it comes out

Hence why mines taking so long to get right with the little time I have to play on it,  getting rid of as much of the old frailty as I can.  (especially true in the electrics department)

Anyway, what you on about, my brick is proper dynamic init...  Plus it cuts through wind like a fart through a tight ar5e.

Who's MK2?  What are you doing to it? actually that's probably for another thread.
