I fitted two last week, then took them off because I didn't take to the colour.
I was over at the powder-coaters looking to see what else there was, when I spotted the owners Mk5 R32 in red, with the standard wheels done in the same anthracite colour coating....and liked it.
So on they went today.

I think the VWR wheels will end up the same colour.

Nice one asker! Ess_Three, i think it was the rim protection i was looking at sorry, suppose it makes sense to have quite a bit of extra rubber on winter tyres, just in case you slide in to a curb

Smaller diameter wheels with bigger sidewalls would offer more protection, for sure and narrower tyres wil be better in deep snow...but since I have decided to stick to 18" wheels, I have planned for the eventuality of bending one:
