Yet another Jetseal question.
« on: 24 October 2010, 12:45 »
When i first got my car i gave it a good going over by hand with 2 coats of AG srp followed by 2 coats of jetseal 109 and finally 2 coats of DJ Supernatural, since then i've just been topping up the wax every month. My question is do i need remove it all? or can i put new layers of jetseal over the wax layer ready for winter? obviously followed by more wax! :undecided:

no you'll have to remove the wax before you can proceed, sealant doesnt like going over wax,

wash and clay, proberly better to wash the car in medium concentrate apc to completely remove any existing wax. rinse well then 2 layers of 109 then 2 layers of supernatural.
jobs a gooden

dodo juice says MAXIMUM if you look after the wax layer by using special shampoo's and red mist detailers etc.. 4 Months and then it should be stripped off with a degreaser.. and then re applied..

But most of the time my wax layer goes within a month as im bad at looking after it lol

megs apc or g101 will be fine.

@tech1889 are you putting two layers on?
the maximum that dodojuice give is only a rough guide really, there higher end waxes can last longer depending on weather and road conditions plus car usage etc which all play a factor in how long the wax will or will not last. also good prep and like you said maintenance will also play a part in how the wax behaves on the car

i put 2 layers of wax on yes.. i do a lot of driving down country lanes and that so my car picks up a load of gunk from the roads this may be a reason why it doesn't last for a long time..

Will this do? http://www.waxamomo.co.uk/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=7&idcategory=26 doesn't say you can use it on the paintwork though.
