I would imagine they just levered the grill out, all the screws are in the arches and under the grill.  What absolute bastards, I would be devastated if that were my car.

I think mk5 bumpers are more similar to other models than the mk 6. Still unreal.

I am not sure but replacements + painting +  fixing any other bodywork damage + damaged front grille + fitting etc would probably be £600+.
