I also wonder if anyone has installed the Kenwood DNX-520VBT because both the vw RNS510 and RCD510 don't have the RCA preout (so the subwoofer installation can still be made but with a workaround which i dont' like...and also you won't be able to control the subwoofer level directly from the head unit; instead you have to manually adjust it from the amplifier which is quite frustrating) and most importantly the sound quality of RNS510 is as bad as the RCD510....so it is not much worth the replacement.

So in my opinion for a perfect replacement for people like me who care alot about the sound quality, i think it will best be to replace the RNS510 or the RCD510 with the Kenwood DNX-520VBT ....but because of possible compatibilies i am still hesitating.....i need to know if anyone has had this unit installed and what is the feedback...... any compatibility issues? or just rumors

My RNS 510* is the very best sounding one in the whole wide world and now, coupled with the fabulous Pioneer sub-whoofter, is the best sounding RNS in the known Universe.
I am ever so happy.

:smiley:Picked up my new gti carbon grey, shadow monzas, sensors, cruise today.

Ride is much better than expected on the 18's, so very pleased

Looked at this unit. Seemed nice and for the price gave DVD, television option, and bluetooth plus full seven digit postcode garmin satnav. Seems odd for vw to offer it undercutting factory option. Potentially one BIG issue is that it appears that you plug an iPod in via a USB cable on the front of the unit! Very ugly indeed. Unit was new to dealer so couldn't tell me if there was a way of linking to the MID port. Hopefully someone on the forum can find this out! If it can be, then unit is good value and gives 7 digit NAV.

Well, downloaded the installation guide and certainly looks like there is no way of integration with the existing MID in VW's, so to use your ipod you have to have an ugly wire coming out of the left hand front of the unit. Just cannot believe they did that. Unless someone know otherwise, thats a deal killer for me. :embarassed:

I would expect like other kenwoods you can use the kenwood lead in to a socket on the rear instead and feed that to the centre concel and use that instead of the MDI.

Went into stealers today to order a new badge for my brothers Roc and they had one of these on the display stand, i must say my initial thoughts were confimed as it's pretty naf looking, like a halfrauds own brand! the screen is way too busy and the buttons feel slightly flimsy, £995 fitted.
Come on Kenwood, must try harder!
