Bye bye Interlagos wheels, my new wheels & Kwik-Twit
« Reply #90 on: 26 October 2010, 08:11 »
FFS the inevitable has happended. Kwik-Fit have dented the outer rims of two of my monza shadow wheels whilst removing the tyres. I wash those wheels every bloody week and they were absolutely mint before today. Well I shall be down there first thing in the morning to see the manager.  Has anyone else had the same problem with them? I think they should at least pay for refurbing the damaged alloys.

On a lighter note my new wheels look pretty good. Although I've not had a good chance to see them in the light as I picked the car up this evening. I'll post some pics when I've cleaned the car.

Well here is the worst wheel......... its difficult to photograph that well but theres a gouge/dent in the outer rim of the alloy which I'm sure could have only happened when they removed the tyre

Heres the next alloy.................. in all fairness this could be the start of white worm or possible a stone chip damaging the lacquer ( so maybe not down the Kwik-Fit )  :undecided:

Another pic of the damaged outer rim of the alloy ( just to depress myself ) Its annoying as theres not another mark on that wheel apart from this.

Quick question, the clear coat lacquer you get with the VW touch up paint........ Can I use this on my monza's to seal a damaged area?

That's bl***dy awful, what a bunch of w***ers, there is no excuse for that with the modern tyre removal machines.

I have used the paint lacquer before on chips and it seems to work fine.

Definately the fault of the tyre fitter, exactly the same happened to me with my split rims . Marked every alloy with tiny chips trying to remove the tyres.

I think it's caused when they try to prise the tyre away from the alloy with a metal bar so the tyre machine can get under it and spin round.

Maw, don't let this go, you must demand new wheels mate, Kwik Fit are huge, they can meet the bill, you should not have to compromise here and DO NOT settle for a refurb as they will never be the same as original.

By the way, for the winter just whack on a couple of layers of wheel seal and wax and they will be well protected from the elements.

Cheers Gossa, I'm going to show the fitter and manager the damage to the wheel tomorrow. I have spoken with them on the phone today. We will see what happens.... I shall probably have to right a letter of complaint to the head office or something.

Martin:
Stand firm with them and accept no compromise. They have damaged your wheels by being careless and have put you through unnecessary trouble. It is not unreasonable for you to expect and demand two new replacements.
They can keep the damaged wheels and do what they wish with them.
I feel for you.

Yes mate really annoying!!
Didn't get any compensation, just refused to pay him.

Tyre fitter swore blind he didn't do it. It's hard to go any further with the matter as it was his word against mine especially with it being a small local tyre company I used.

Hope you have better luck with Kwik-Fit.
