I would say that panel filters are better as what you find is a lot of people put an induction kit on or cone filter not realiseing that when they are running they are sucking in a lot of hot air from the engine as everyone knows is not good, whilst with a good panel filter at least it is still in the airbox and not exposed to the hot engine air. :smiley:

Do you know how small bits of dirt it will take to fook up your charger/head?
Its microns by the way!
Paper = small holes.
Cotton or fabric = larger holes.

That's quite an interesting read considering it is on a diesel forum.

I.E. CI Engine = Warm Air = Better combustion.

The advice that I always seem to see is to save your money and just use the paper filters and change them at service time etc. I had a K&N on my old Rallye, but the advice from anyone over on dubforce about air filters was to use the paper one and change regularly.
......now officially dubless.

The problem with standard paper filters is they get clogged up virtually straight away.
So 'some' of the performance filters on the market will work better for longer.

When did you last ask a lad if he cleaned the cotton filter out regular?
Spent money on cleaning agents and oil?
At least the paper one always last enough upto service life and gets changed?
The one thing I know is that if too much oil is applied on the filters it will fly off and more than likely hit the MAF or Co2 sensor burning them out due to the oil and heat!
