Anyone gone down the coilovers route as yet????
« on: 01 October 2010, 20:58 »
Just interested to know if anyone has changed their suspicion over to coilovers as yet on their Mk6?????

I am seriously considering but would be interested to hear anyones thoughts?

If I do then a cheap set of VWR Sport lowering springs will be available very soon

My thoughts are: ''please don't tempt me with cheap VWR springs as I swore I'd never mess with another suspension kit again as they always end up being too hard and/or crashy for me''.
How well do they ride compared to standard?

And if it was me, after Lord knows how many suspension kits over the years I'd rather stick to a top quality matched proper spring and damper kit that had fixed ride height. But that's just fussy old me who's too delicate/old/poor to do trackdays any more.

If I do it then it will be something like the KW V3's so I have adjustablity of the damping and rebound. I have been down the road of cheaper coilover kits so understand your point andy.

As for the VWR springs they really don't trash the ride quality which is why I think they aren't as performance originated as I want for the car.

I guessed it would be V3s or something similar you'd be looking at as I can't see you fitting any sh!te Steve!
The V3s should be very good for your combined use of road and track days with all their adjustments, so long as the springs aren't too hard for UK roads.
I wouldn't imagine the spring and damping rates were very different to the mk5 GTI versions, just the actual damper body mounting differences taken into account so they physically fit the newer chassis.
Anyway, as I have no actual experience of the things I'll keep my nose out of the thread from now on!!!

No, he's talking about selling his not exactly cheap to buy VW Racing (VW 'approved') springs cheaply whilst upgrading further if you read the posts properly.
The most light mk3 owners see is through their rust holes.
