I had the same on my car when i first bought it.  I bought a tailgate from a scrappy for 70 quid or so (from a p-reg mint condition) and then had it sprayed and fitted and it looks good as new!!

Better that way than trying to fix something thats f**ked..

bit of a common problem in that area on the mrk3s, usually starts around the boot lock. 120 doesnt sound that bad at all, get it sorted soon, cos it aint getting any better.

As the man says (long time no see, Omar!) that is a very common problem on early mk3's as the water sits in the seal around the bottom of the window. That quote is very cheap, most places I spoke to before wanted big money as they reckon the rear window is a pain to remove without breaking it.

You dont have to go to your local scrappy mate. ?Find a parts finder on the internet and type in what you need and you will find that a shed load of scrappies will reply by email within a day or two and then the prices they quote are the prices delivered to your door. ?I paid around ?70 delivered and then all you have to do is arrange to have it sprayed and fitted. ?The likelihood is that a front end collision golf is available sumwhere and that the boot is in A1 condition.

Good luck..
