i have so many questions to askk

im trying to sort my car out today so yeah :P

right...

1. i have an oil brether pipe whice code is likely to be the part number?  7MO 103 211 A (7MO 493J)

                                                                                                                         211 A (493 AE)
                                                                                                                         211 D (493 AG)
                                                                                                                         211 H (493 AP)
                                                                                                                         211 E (493 AK)


2. My car came on plates H138 ERY even though its a 97' P plate golf, How do i find out my original reg?

3. Rang up a garage about cam belt change, they want £200ish is it hard to do it yourself?

£200 for a cambelt change.. 16v you have?   even so that's a fair whack for a belt change..
I've been quoted under £100 all in..and that's with a good reputable company top mechanic.. 8v that is..

nah mines 8v mate

i normally pay quite a bit for work

may be cus i go to a specialist =/

The place i go are specialists.. from what i hear £70-80 is a good going rate for an 8v cambelt change..a bit more if you go quality company.. £200 sounds more than double in my book..

yeahh it did sound a lot to me

he reckons the cambelt £80 and 2 hours work so...

Do a online mot check and see if the old reg is shown on hpi it, that will 100% tell you.

cambelt is not that hard to do, as long as you don't move the pulleys when they have no belt then you're fine. Bottom pulley has to be removed though so the cambelt cover can be taken off. Sometimes the pulley bolts get rounded off or seize so they are the biggest problem when doing this job.
