Hello to all, this is my first post on this forum. I have just picked up my new mk6 GTI, i am very pleased overhall alas there appears to be some missing paint ?!!

My car is Deep Black, and under the bonnet the engine bay and the under side of the bonnet are dark grey in colour, is this correct?

Thankfull for any replies

My GTI is DPB i picked it up in july 2009,ive just checked under the bonnet etc and mine is painted the same colour as the rest of the bodywork. :undecided:

I have no paint issues with mine, all DPB where it is meant to be :smug:

Once you go black you never go back :smug:

So true, black is the new candy white and all the best peeps choose black  Still not done 6000 miles have you?

No just under, im at about 5700

Helloooo Amanda.

Getting Wolgang back tomorrow morning with a perfect new rear. Took the bodyshop 1.5 weeks and 3 goes! Beggars belief! Cannot wait to get out of the Pug 107. I have run out of brown paper bags which I covered my head with whilst driving that thing!

I love my GTi but certain things niggle. True for every car, I suppose. It is a wonderful car in most ways.

PS: Fitting the sub-woofer on Monday, definitely and at last.

Great news Asker, really pleased for you.  Blimey those 107's are something else aren't they? about as muchh oomph as a snail on laxative.  Hope all is well with Wolfgang and let us know how the sub woofer performs.

There were no paint issues with the MK5.VW modified the way the MK6 was made to save money and have dropped the ball somewhere along the lines as its a bit of a reoccurring problem on the MK6.
I beg to differ. EVERY mk5 i have seen suffers the wing to a-pillar paint to the edge issue just it shows up more on some more than others due to colour and the gap in this location due to variences in the build process. I checked all the mk5s at 4 local dealers over about a 3 month period when i noticed this on the mk6 i ahve also looked at nearlt every mk5 i have seen (amazed ive not been arrested yet!)
I have seen behind the seens of a mk5 that was also stripped for parts at a mates garage.  This process started in 2004 and the mk5.

Just spoken to VW customer services, all dark coloured cars now come with the under bonnet and engine in gloss dark grey.

Not best pleased at List 27k is a lot for a car that isnt the same colour underneath !

At least they are all the same.........................
Could you take a photo of this for me please. Im interested in what they have done.
Thanks

Just got mine (carbon grey) and checked under bonnet, it's a dark grey matt finish. The other thing I notice on my leather seats is that they are fabric on the lower seat sides  is this more penny pinching VW???

One of the many reasons I did not order leather. I think the Jacara Cloth looks unique, more comfortable and the heating of the seats works 3 times more quickly. But that's is my taste.

You have a beautiful car. Enjoy it.
