New wheels advice
« on: 22 September 2010, 15:43 »
Im  looking at getting a set of Audi s8 alloys for my golf but im split to whether i can make them fit with out any issues.
The alloys are 18" 5x112 et48 8j all round with 245/45/18 tyres so ill probably need 20mm+ adaptors.
Anyone know how i can find out if these will work before i buy them :)

im sure mk4's are 5x100 so wont fit mate unless as you said you get adaptors.. which from what i hear are not cheap  :undecided:

Stink had a set of replica S8 Alloys wheels on his old 1.8T

Might be worth asking him what the deal is with those

You can get reps in 5x100, 5x112 will need adaptors.

I know ill need adaptors but i was wondering what sized ones :)
If i go too big they will rub but if i dont get big enough ive wasted alot of money.

Thanks rhyso, not seen any reps around but i decent set of four originals with tyres for £290 ish caught my eye.

Or i could just get a set of 17" S3 ones and bung em on :(

Sorry missed that, I am sure that those tyres are too wide for a mk4 so will need changing anyway so if you factor in the cost then you might be better going for a new set of reps.

245 is indeed too wide, 225s just fit, and a 40 profile is whats needed.

alloys ive just bought has 245/40 tyres on and they stick out the archs, and look like balloons even on a 9 inch wide rim

id look for a set of reps, be much easier to fit and prob cheaper to buy, and will come with right size tyres (hopefully, lol)

but if you focused on buying these alloys, just bear in mind youll have to pay for new tyres and about 150 for the adaptors

As Rhyso Said I had a set of those S3 / S8 alloys on my old 1.8t

I went for a set of reps which were 5x100 so went straight on, had a set of falken 452's

shame if I hadn't of swapped that for the R32 I would of owned it now!
