back in the shop

ITs gone back in to the garage today as ive developed a over heating issue. not sure why

the coolent its good fan level is good
and if left alone runs at 90 happy for 20+ mins

but once driven it overheats ...  water pump ? any ideas people

Seems to match the symptoms. Pull the thermostat and you can check the pump. If that is the cause get them to renew the cambelt/tensioner while it's in pieces even if it's not due quite yet.

Sounds like what mine did with the pump, this also caused my thermostat to go at the sane time and it was only 10 months old!

Gone but still keeping a close eye on it...

the shop called
had the thermo out and seems ok. but replaced it and the lower pipe did heat up a little however still over heated
so he checked the pump and although its not broken he said its not turning just spinning on the spindal..

so having the water pump, thermo and Belt changed £400 the lot not sure if that a good deal but at the end it will get the Loved car back on the road. so cant complain.

Who's doing the work?

I paid £350 at my local VW dealer for cambelt, water pump and fresh coolant.  Didn't include the thermostat mind so to me it sounds a little pricey if its not a dealer  :undecided:

249 bypass, ths fr3 engine mounts, S/S decat, 2.5'' straight through exhaust, induction kit, forge split r, coilovers, 18'' alloys, much more in the pipeline

£153 for genuine parts (cambelt kit with tensioner, water pump, g12++ coolant)

£60 labour at a garage my family used for years...

All in all £213 without thermostat

as the cars been in for 2 Days had it all changed and serviced also £400 tbh i cant complain its going to be working again ..
