Insurance for Track Day car
« on: 22 January 2005, 10:57 »
I use my Mk 2 Gti as a track day car, and as such do limited mileage on the road. Mainly driving to events!

I probably do less that 3k miles per year.

The car is pretty much standard, apart from being stripped out with Cobra seats and harnesses.

Can anyone suggest a cheap way of insuring the car for occassional use, limited miles etc? I have'nt got a trailer yet!

Thanks
Its a GTi

would probably be cheaper to get a trailer and then not have to insure it at all

you could try calling a few places that specialise in trackday insurance and asking them. they might say some really cheap quote for you.

Hello redcap, i work for HIC/Golf+ insurance and we include free trackday insurance under all our fully comprehensive policies. We also offer big discounts for limited mileage policies so if you could limit to say 3000 miles a year you would get a large discount as well as an extra discount for bein a member of this forum!

gimme a bell if u wanna quote mate on 08451266366 or 08451290290 and ask for Martin and ill see if i can help u out!

has anyone actually read the terms for the HIC trackday cover????

there can only be one car on the track at a time.... useless for 95% of all track days

you have to have a fully trained ARDS instructor in the passenger seat.... are you made of money??

sorry but in reality it's not worth the paper it's written on!

Hi all, sorry took me so long to get back to ya but work cut off our net access and not got it home but have finally pursuaded them to let us have it back! Have just read thru the track day cover again and cannot see anywhere that it says you have to be the only car on track (think this used to be the case when we first started offering it but this has now been updated) and you dont have to have an instructor with you. There obviously are terms and conditions (it is Free after all) but would take far too long to type it all out so if you wanna check anything either gimme a ring or pm me.
Would need 2 speak to you to get all your details to get u a quote but if u are interested either gimme a bell on 08451 290290 and ask for me or pm me your number and i will call you back

hope this helps
