cam belt change
« on: 19 January 2005, 18:00 »
Hi guys,

got a 16v on an F plate covered 164k with the last 20k all being covered in 2003, I thought i better change the cam belt soonish rather than later, now as i'm quite happy to do a service mess around with the electrics etc, I've heard horror stories on bolts snapping etc when doing cambelt change, so i'm basically just looking for advice :undecided: .

I've bought a haynes manual but it has has about a paragraph on the whole procedure and i really dont wanna mess it up, but I dont wanna give it to a garage to do otherwise i'll never learn how.

so all comments are gratefully welcome.

just pay somebody to do it for you!! try and find a 16v specialist, or even somebody local who'd be willing to do it as a homer for you.

thats what i do.

also get the timing chain changed also. its only ?8 for the chain and will make the engine send a lot less rattly!
