New bits and new detail***PICS ADDED**
« on: 04 September 2010, 22:13 »
Will upload pics tomorrow.............................................

12 and 1/2 hour polishing/waxing on the outside today, just off into the garage to finish off the engine bay and interior!!

The cars been away and had 'things' done to her!!!!!!!!!!!

So, Ive had the car lowered onto a nice new set of coillies, a new headlining, and some clocks with luminous green hands....................

So, I thought, give the poor girl a damn good wash, polish and wax

NEW CLOCKS

NEW HEAD LINING

NOW THE CLEANED PICS

I DO LIKE THIS ONE!!

Now, most of you on here don't really like what I've done to my car, so these next few will probably make your toes curl................YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

Basically I wanted to clean the engine bay up a bit, get rid of all the grease, and tidy it up without taking anything off (cos I'd have broke it) So, with what I had lying around, I tarted the old girls heart up a bit

As I said before, I know most of you will HATE/LOATHE/DETEST it, but its my car and I'm really pleased with it   :smug: :smug:

Let the barrage of abuse begin

Meant to say, I used some 3M cutting compound (ehite top), then some 3M polish (blue top) with my electric buffer on 3000rpm, and a waffle sponge head. Sprayed the panels with water from a trigger gun 1st, seems really good stuff, has anyone else used it before? I got it from a local Yacht builder, they use it on yachts worth over £5million, so I thought, its gotta be good

As you say Mate if you like what you have done it don't matter what anyone else thinks. I really like the headlining....how did you do it as mine needs doing. I am guessing that you removed it from the car and fabric glued the material to your own headlining then refitted ??

The original was ripped and hanging down, so removed the shell from the car, re fixed the insulation, then sprayed the glue onto the fabric, then spray the glue onto the shell, wait till they are BOTH TACKY then stick em together!! Be warned, if you don't use enuf glue, it will drop mate!!

Mine had a leak when I bought it and is sagging near the rear view mirror and has water marks around that area. It is coming out to be recovered now I am sure I have stopped the leak. Is it hard to remove the complete headlining and to re fit ??  I have looked and guess the trim around the rear window has to come off along with the pillar trims middle and front and then pull out the headlining.

To be honest mate, its as simple as that. The hardest part is getting your new material 2 stick. A small hint is to get some double sided carpet tape and put loads of that on, as it will keep the headling secure until the glue has had time to stick properly

wow  :undecided: its your car and i'm glad your happy with it.

Did you make the dials yourself? looks like laminated paper?
also what did you do the green in the bay with? looks like green marker pen?
still not sure about all the badges, stickers, dice etc, it all looks a bit to busy.

i think the bra looks good on yours, where is it from?

good for you for having a go at stuff yourself though.

The Dials are Wolfsburg Dials off good old Ebay

The Hands are painted in a Luminous Green

The engine bay was painted with Green & Gold Smoothrite paint, just for a joke really (as is the dice) as the engine is being replaced in the very near future
