BOOST ISSUES STILL , AFTER REMAP ?
« on: 30 August 2010, 21:37 »
Im still having boost issues with my aum . had nick do a mobile remap on my car and on road test he said it was laggy in the midrange and should pick up more instantly but doesnt so try doing the n249 bypass and then went which i did but made no difference . sometimes it picks up and goes but most of time the boost is on and off in the midrange when you try and floor it in 3rd and 4th on the bypass , it seems to just hold back ?

the other day after driving for around 30mins i had no boost at all , power was just flat with no pick up at all . parked up went to cinema and came out and car was fine again and hasnt done it since ?
its starting to p+ss me off now as the power is good one minute then not . had no codes before remap and no codes since (about 2mnths) but will check tom when at work to see if any codes stored from the other day .

have new - maf , n75 , jet suction pump , plugs , 007 (have tested it) , n75 bypass , kn panel , coolant temp sensor , thermostat , tb clean and reset , just passed mot emmissions easily , (all oem parts) . have checked all boost pipes etc .

could this be a map sensor fault (top of intercooler)?

i had same issue mate when i got mine mapped.. i then went for forge boost pipes and found out the reason was becuase the pipe conecting to intercooler was not on propely from the bottom  :lipsrsealed:.. it was out of sight for me to check.. but one of the good lads at r-tech  spoted it when changing it over for forge silicone one  ... jack it up or get on a ramp and have look at intercooler pipes

Have checked all boost pipes including the one you mention when i changed my cambelt and waterpump . have looked at on ramp again when i changed my front discs and pads the other week ! also i can grab hold of the actuator rod and move/pull on it so thats not siezed .

Dai-cymru had a similar issue with his AUM which we later found out was the MAF (brand new genuine item from VW too!).  One minute it was totally flat and the next is was wheel spinning all the way through 3rd gear

New owner has since replaced it and apparently it goes like stink now!

Might be worth trying to log the MAF values to see what the car is requesting  :undecided:  Or take the MAF off and make sure the parts are all there - on Dai's, part of it had fallen off   hence the intermittent problem

That's the code Dai had when it was the dodgy MAF.  He replaced a lot of the PCV system too to eliminate any leaks

How does it drive with the MAF disconnected?

I remember this one, we got told the car was in 100% good running order when you booked the remap, because you had done a full diagnostics session and fully checked the car out?
Your best bet is to do a fully logging session and find out why you are spooling up slow.  The TB aint going to be anything to do with it, its going to be PCV, or wastegate , or N249 system , N75 , vac pipe ect..

A good logging session should pin point it out or give you an idea which area to be looking in.

Could be 101 things.

I would start with smoke test and a visual inspection inside the turbo to see how the wastegate is sitting.

My own AUM will only make 185bhp 200lbft even with a stage2 map???  A few hours logging on the road and trail and error testing shows its turbo related. It seems in the 150k life of the car its had the turbo re'cond and the ko3 compressor wheel used??

A remap is only as good as the car its going on so your best bet is get the car upto us so we can do you a propper logging session and find out why your down on power.
