16v oil pumps

going to change my abf ally sump for either my old kr or 9a one, is there a difference between the depths of them, ie have i gotta change the oil pump aswell, or can i leave the abf one in there as i know its fine? also what about reusing old sump gaskets? i put a new 1 on tha 9a only a few months ago, could i reuse it or will it be set n crushed n good again?

The ABF pickup is a little different and picks up from a little lower than other pickups, but shouldn't really be a problem unless your steel sump has already taken a beating.



^^1.6 diesel pickup at top, ABF at bottom.

I'm running an ABF with steel sump using a diesel pickup - but only because my sump has half-caved in, making the ABF pickup foul the bottom.

You can sometimes get away with re-using rubber gaskets, cork gaskets won't be much good 2nd time round tho.

9A oil pump is same height as an ABF one, but KR one is 6mm shorter and has a different spline I believe.

So yeah, stick with the ABF oil pump, but it might be worth checking clearance with some plasticine before you bolt everything up.

sweet cheers mate, will offer up the sump with plasticine on the pick up before i bolt it up.. also got a solid fibre type gasket, this looks unmarked but is used, what about that and a smear of insta-gasket?

I wouldn't use sealant on the gasket, bits of it tend to find their way into the pickup, clogging it up
