I didn't know the mirror dips in reverse either.
Back to topic:
The Mk6 R is in another league both in price and performance to the Mk5 Ed30.
It is better car. 
It's definitely in a different league price-wise, but real-world performance is not as different I might have hoped for. However, when its wet and slippery, the R is well out in front. And it feels a more 'grown up' car than the GTI - if that makes sense. No!
This thread is about Mk6 R vs MK5 Ed30 not Mk6 GTi.
