I quite like the look of the 3 door S3 myself.

There was a 59 black 3 door S3 at the VW Service Dept yesterday. Looked tired, old, full of over designed creases. More bread van than hatchback. But that's MO. I've never liked the car especially the vulgar, gaping grille which is an Audi trademark.

Yeah and now Ford have copied that front grille look on their fugly cars.

We all have our opinions but how anyone who is spending 30k plus, choose a golf R over an S3 is beyond me. I love the gti mk5 n 6 but come on, the R just does'nt turn heads like an S3 and the badge is the cherry on top. IMO.
The ed 30 is the best looker though.

I just don't quite get Audi design with their gaping grilles and pregnant duck profiles on most of their cars. They look out of proportion. The A3 Sportback looks like an afterthought and most of their other cars apart from the A5 coupe and the R8 could easily have a successful date with a crusher.
The Mk5 Golfs still look good but I am so glad that VW shied away from gaping grilles on all their Mk6 cars.

Disagree. The 5dr S3 looks  and was well overpriced for what it is (hence the HUGE discounts available for the last 3 years). The R is a new shape car, the S3 is old and due to be replaced. The S3 will always be desirable as its easy to tune and has 4WD... but in the looks dept it looses big time. The interior as nice as it was back in 2004 is dated and not as functional as the golf.

... just to add the Golf R is quicker also
